Colleen and Charlie’s Littleton Engagement

One of my favorite parts of being a Denver wedding photographer is the winter engagement sessions.  I had the privilege of photographing Colleen and Charlie’s engagement session a few weeks ago and it was a great time.  They were so incredibly sweet and fun to work with, and their dog Ollie was the cutest.  These two just glowed together and the warm winter day with awesome lighting was the icing on the cake.  I knew Colleen and I would get along when I
showed up and we were wearing matching boots. 🙂  We even figured out her parents live just up the street from me… such a small world.  I loved their styles and her scarf was perfection.

We met at the Platte River trail behind Aspen Grove shopping center.  The weather was honestly perfect.  It was warm enough to not need a coat, but cool enough where there was still snow on the ground.  We just walked along the path and found several awesome spots to take a few photos.

They are newly engaged and already have a lot of their plans in line for their wedding.  I love planners! 🙂 These two will be getting married in August of this year at The Barn at Raccoon Creek in Littleton and I’m so excited to spend their special day with them as their wedding photographer.

Bath Time- Littleton Family Photographer

I specialize in being a Denver wedding photography, however photographing families has a huge part of my heart as well.  I love babies.  A lot.  I love tiny babies, however I’m totally obsessed with the 1-2 year old stage.  Their little personalities are so amazing and seeing how they learn/interact is fascinating to me.  My little Abraham is 16 months and I realized we had never given him a proper bath in the sink.  Which is super sad considering we have the perfect farm sink for bath time.  Last week that all changed when my husband give him a bath so I could document the cuteness.

Abraham (Bram) loved his bath in the sink!  I imagine it was nice to have a bath to himself without his sister snatching his toys from his hands and pretending he’s a sea monster.  🙂  He didn’t want to get out… it was super cute.

My new favorite pictures to take of my kids are those involving either an activity or other people.  Looking back at my baby pictures, it’s fun to see myself at different stages, however the most entertaining to me are those with my family; specifically my mom and dad.  I love to see how young they looked, how they interacted with me, their hairstyles, etc.  These photos help us remember what it was like to be a child in the home of those who love us most.  One of my absolute photos is of me sitting on my dad’s lap ‘helping’ him read the paper when I was about a year old.

I love these photos and I feel they’ll be cherished by my husband and I and Abraham for years to come.  My next goal for this photojournalism style is to plan a fun day with the kids and document it.

Littleton Family Photographer- Father and Daughter

I love being a family photographer and wedding photographer.  I stay pretty busy taking photos for other people, it’s not very often I take pictures for myself or my own family.  A few months ago I had the idea for this session and I was so happy when it finally came to life.

My husband is a West Metro firefighter in Littleton.  His schedule is a little strange in the fact when he goes to work he his gone for forty eight hours strait, and in the summer up to three weeks.  My daughter loves to ask questions about Daddy’s work… a lot of questions.  Where does daddy sleep?  Is daddy playing on the firetruck?  What does daddy eat at the firehouse?  🙂 I thought it would be fun to have some photos for her to look at when she’s missing Daddy.  My husband was definitely hesitant but after asking, okay maybe begging, he finally agreed.  It took some bribing for Zeelie as well to wear a tutu and follow directions, but we made it happen.  She was rewarded with a giant cup of ice cream when we got home.

We went down to Chatfield State Park in Littleton one afternoon and just walked around a bit and had a ton of fun.  Zeelie thought hanging out with daddy in his work gear was so cool.  The best quote from her that day was, “Daddy is the strong guy and I’m the darling girl.”  I love these photos and it makes me so happy knowing that we will look back at these photos twenty years from now and reflect on that that fun day and how stinking cute our baby girl is.

Littleton Family Photographer

I love being a Littleton family photographer, and my absolute favorite time of year is the fall/ early winter.  I love photographing weddings during the summer, however photographing families in the fall is such a breath of fresh air.  The sessions tend to be fun and laid back and the fall weather is pretty amazing.  I love meeting with families and spending some time getting to know them and capturing their relationships and interactions with one another.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting with Trista, Lilly, and their sweet pups for a photo session.  This was especially awesome because Lilly is my sweet niece.  We met about an hour and half before sunset at the Heritage Center in Lakewood.  If you’ve never been there, I highly recommend checking it out.  It’s historic and the buildings are awesome and make great backdrops for photos.  I love the vintage look and this was perfect.  These two were so much fun to work with and there was a lot of giggling involved in the session.  They are seriously both so pretty.  And Lilly’s eyes, come on… the prettiest!  Trista even came prepared with two amazing outfits for each of them.  It was a great day in late November and the weather was perfect till the sun set.  The dogs did great, especially considering there were other dogs walking by and Reece is still a bit of a puppy.  We finished the session with just Trista and Lilly and I loved how you could really see the bond and the love between the two of them.

I had a blast editing these photos and it was so hard to narrow them down as I loved all of them.  I so look forward to photographing these two again.

Littleton Family Photographer/ Morrell Family

I love being a Littleton family photographer around the holidays.  This is a family session I look forward to every year!  My dear parents and their sweet grandbabies  (including my two little ones.)  These are the cutest kids I’ve ever laid eyes on, I know I’m biased of my own babies and my nieces and nephew… but seriously, they’re pretty darn cute.  All the kids were in pretty good moods considering they had visited Santa earlier that day and were deprived of their normal naps.  We were going to quickly get a nice portrait in my parent’s backyard and then I remembered the antique couch I had hidden in their basement!

I bought this antique couch at an estate sale down the street from their house with the intention of reupholstering it and never got around to it so I’ve been stashing it in their basement hoping they never mentioned it 🙂  Then as we were walking outside, it came to me!  We needed the neglected antique couch outside!  My mom agreed and it was pretty awesome.

The kids were a little confused why we dragged them into the snow to sit on a random couch.  I started taking their photos and it started a little too formal, they were all just staring at me.  It was funny.  Like what is mommy and aunt Stephie doing???  And why is everyone staring at me??  This wouldn’t do, we needed their cute little personalities to shine through.  My brother Eric saved the day when he started throwing snow up in the air and letting it land on his head… oh the things we do for the perfect photo.  It made them laugh so hard and we got the perfectly imperfect photos.

Littleton Family Photographer

Being a Denver wedding photographer is what keeps me busy 90% of the time, however that other 10% is spent working with families and high school seniors which I love just as much!  I meet my clients in a lot of different ways… sometimes a client is a long-time friend, sometimes a family member, this family, however I met at the park up the street from my house!!  Liz is the nicest mama EVER and her kids are so stinking adorable.  They were so sweet to my toddlers at the park, my daughter talked about her little girl, Eleanor, non-stop for weeks!  I love that we’v become friends!

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of taking Liz’s family photos when she booked me for a Littleton family photography session.  Liz’s family is seriously one of the nicest families I have ever met, I was so happy when she asked me to take their photos.  We met at the South Platte Trail in Littleton right before the sunset and did a quick session since it was chilly out.  This family is beautiful and they were so fun to work with.  The little girls, Eleanor and Eloise, did such a great job of listening and looking cute as can be.  I loved the age gap between their four kids and it was so cute how the older two looked out for the girls.

I think my favorite photo of theirs is the one of them all standing on the bridge.  They are just such a lovely family and I feel like  the love really shows in the photo.  My other favorite is the one of Liz with the girls where they are kissing her on both cheeks.  Cuteness overload.  I can’t wait to do their family photos next year!

Littleton Family Photographer

As much as I love the Denver wedding season, I love the fall/winter when I get a little break from being a wedding photographer, and get to be a family photographer.  I love weddings so much, however there’s something about working with families that I would never part with.  I love seeing families every year and seeing how they’ve grown.  It’s so fun to keep in touch and hear about all the changes that have occurred in their lives and what’s coming up in the next year.

A few weeks ago I met with Jim, Lauren and Lilly to take their annual family photos.  I love photographing this family because they are awesome…. and it helps they’re all incredibly good looking and photogenic.  We met in Downtown Littleton , just outside of Denver, and the weather was perfect and the sun was setting giving us some dreamy light.  Lilly is the sweetest and did awesome even though she was not feeling well and would end up really sick the rest of the night.

If you haven’t been to Downtown Littleton, add it to your list of places to visit. 🙂  It’s the cutest town with historic charm and awesome shops and restaurants. I love the old brick, the architecture, the tree lined streets, and the alley ways are awesome.  My favorite spot from this session was in front of a turquoise garage door…. it was as simple as that, a garage door painted turquoise 🙂  The gorgeous color of the door mixed with this family’s incredible eyes was just perfection.   I look forward to next year’s family photo session and can’t wait to compare them to this years to see how they’ve grown.

Littleton Wedding Photographer/ Engagement Session at Red Rocks

Being a Denver wedding photographer has so many incredible perks, one of my favorites being having the opportunity to explore areas all over Denver.  When Jackie mentioned she was interested in going to Red Rocks for her engagement session I was so happy!  Red Rocks is one of my favorite areas just outside of Denver.  The views are incredible and there is something that is just magical about the park.  The natural beauty mixed with the relaxed architecture is right up my alley.

A few weeks ago I was able to capture engagement photos for Jackie and Dylan at Red Rocks Amphitheater.  The weather was gorgeous and the beautiful fall golden colors were still present.  Jackie and Dylan make a perfect couple and were so fun to work with.  Jackie came prepared with her sharpie so we could write ‘Save the Date’ on the bottom of her shoes for a photo.  Jackie is a Broncos fan, while Dylan is a Redskins fan so we ended the session with them in their jerseys.  They were so easy to connect with and it was so fun to photograph them because showing their love was so effortless.  I loved their photos, however my absolute favorite is the one of Jackie leaning her back on the rocks, and Dylan leaning in for a kiss with his arm above her.  My other was the one of them in the center of the arch on the road.  It took forever to get the shot as cars would come just as we started in the street, but once we finally had the opportunity, it was totally worth it. I’m excited to be their Denver wedding photographer next year at Hudson Gardens.

Littleton Wedding Photographer/ Engagement Session with Matt and Alicia

A few weekends ago I met with Matt and Alicia for their engagement session.  The weather was kind of scary and was raining buckets on the drive to Chatfield State Park.  We debated rescheduling but I’m so glad we didn’t.  The sky cleared up and the colors were just magical.

Mat and Alicia are the sweetest couple and their love just shined through in the photos.  I’m excited to be their Littleton wedding photographer  next year at Hudson Gardens.

Family Portrait Session in Littleton

Last weekend I met with the Shimonek Family to do their family portraits.  I love being a family portrait photographer because of the families I get to work with, and this is one of my favorites.  This is my second time doing family portraits for Megan and Stefan and it’s always a good time.  Emma and Owen grew so much in the last year and were little sweethearts.  Owen even gave me smiles this time opposed to sticking his tongue out at me like last year 😉  Emma liked climbing on the rocks and posing for me.
